No Green Bananas
2017 Dixie District Champions
Representing Dixie District at the International Senior Quartet competition at Midwinter Convention, January 20, 2018, Costa Mesa, California
Sam, our baritone, is a retired insurance claims and risk professional and has been singing barbershop harmonies since high school (but only 32 years with Music City Chorus). He is also studying the string bass. “Baritones get no respect”
Our bass, Bill, is an Independent Furniture Manufacturer's Representative who sings with The Music City Chorus, Kentucky Vocal Union and Stereo Praise Quartet, a Southern Gospel group from Franklin, TN
Doug, singing lead, has been with the Music City Chorus for 28 years. He is a semi-retired controls consultant who also enjoys woodworking.
And our tenor, Chuck, is a retired finance executive (but still teaches Accounting at a local college), and joined the Music City Chorus just two years ago after last singing in college. He also directs and plays lead trumpet for “5 Points Swing” jazz band.
No Green Bananas began singing together in February 2017 for Music City Chorus’ Singing Valentines. We had fun, sang pretty well, and decided to give this Senior Quartet thing a try. The senior quartet ages must total at least 240 years. We qualify. You do the math. We now begin our journey to qualify for the 2019 Senior Quartet International Competition, to be held here in Music City at the Grand Old Opry. Meanwhile, we look forward to each and every opportunity to entertain and harmonize along with our Music City Chorus brothers.
